I love Santogold with a fury!!!!Ex-punk priestess Santi White and a number of producers plan on releasing her self-titled debut album, Santogold, this April. Santogold has already opened for Bjork and has been featured in Rolling Stone and MTV News. It’s impossible to pin point her style of music. There are so many people and producers working on this project, every song is completely distinct from the next. It’s an electronic amalgamation of dub, hip hop, punk, new wave, and pop. Although the album hasn’t been released yet there are already a number of remixes. Check out the goods:

The Ting Tings are based out of Salford Northwest United Kingdom. Totally adorable duo. They are releasing their first single “Great Dj” March 3rd. Calvin Harris’s remix has been all over the blogs lately. Mr. Harris adds just enough funk and extra pizaz to make this song a smooth and chill dance hit.

His new tune echos:“The next thing you know she’s wearing my Rolex”. This song will be hot for about 10 days then sizzle out. It is redundant and banal. Even with its “clever” twist: “It’s a gag gift and she knows it”, the song is doomed to the limbo of unplayed itunes tracks. The sad thing is, the lyrics are the best part. The rest is an oversampled mess of soulless music loops and generic techno beats. I wish I could give the song points for orignality but it sounds a little too much like “Yeah Yeah” by Bodyrox. Wiley, put down the drum loops!

I think so!
This song was released two or three months ago, and I did not pay much attention to it. I guess it had to do with the fact that I am so sick of the Michael Jackson samples.
Anyway, I was driving in my car, home from my class, this song came on and I was totally shaking my ass the whole time.
It grew on me, I suppose.
Also, she looks absolutely incredible in this video. In fact she always looks incredible.

These Australians cook up some funky shit! On Jan 16th, Bag Raiders released a new CD called Bag Raiders Remixed featuring Whitenoise, Knightlife, and ZZZ. The tracklist includes A Bag Raiders remix…of, um, Bag Raiders, “Whitenoise’s French style daka daka daka DAAA woop woop remix, ZZZ’s super chopin/mozart/bach/grey/beethoven/liszt/ etc on meth style 3 minute breakdown remix, Knightlife’s dark late nite 2.33 am style melbourne disco groove shuffle”, as well as “the bag raiders even more synthed out skipped out drawn out mix of their own super ibiza pacha erick ‘more’ morillo hit” as described by Modular Records. I would buy this 12” simply based on those descriptions. (Good marketing boys). Anyway, “Fun Punch” is the main track. What is Fun Punch? It probably refers to some psychedelic/genius-producing agent found in the waters of Australia. But that’s just my guess….

Yes I know, sensual seduction is yesterdays news, but damnit this video makes me crack the fuck up.
I’ve been trying to steer clear of playing sensual seduction out, but Wideboys remixed it, and it sounds like a completely different song, so I might bring it back into my sets, who knows. Most of the other remixes of this song are the same exact tune, just with a girl singing/rapping over it (lil kim, Robyn).

What can I say about Bird Peterson? Besides the fact that I love his damn name. Say it 5 times in a British accent, it’s so fun. Anyhow his remixes are hard, heavy, catchy and downrigt fun to dance to. His eclectic and polished style definately caught my attention. He is based out of Austin Texas. He might just be my new favorite remixer. Oh and he has a fierce stash and beard.
