I really need help with these word problems in Algebra:[?

Hi,thanks for helping:]

In the next problems,if there is not enough information to solve the problem or if it has no solution,say so. If extra information is given,identify it.( I dont even understand the instructions:/)

1.A collection of 30 coins worth$5.50 consists of nickels,dimes, and quarters. There are twice as many dimes as nickels. How many quarters are there?

2.A triangle has a perimeter 29cm. The sides have lengths,in centimeters, that are consecutive odd integers. What is the longest side?

3.A school cafeteria sells milk at 25 cents per carton and salads at 45 cents each. One week the total sales for these items were $132.50. How many salads were sold that week?

I know this might be a lot,but I really dont know.And this is the only place I can come to to ask.

THANKS SO SO MUCH!!

(1) N = number of nickels
D = number of dimes
Q = number of quarters

Total 30, so N+D+Q = 30
Twice as many dimes as nickels, so 2*N = D
Total value is $5.50, so 5*N + 10*D + 25*Q = 550

Substitute back in to solve.

(2) Perimeter is 29.
Sides are 3 consecutive odd integers. For that to be true, the second side is the first side plus 2, and the third is the first plus 4. So

(s) + (s+2) + (s+4) = 29.

Solve for s, then the longest side is s+4.

(3)

Confusing, you cannot tell the number of salads without knowing something about the number of cartons of milk sold. If the number of cartons of milk is M, and the number of salads is S, then your total sales are:

0.25*M + 0.45*S = 132.50

You can solve for S in terms of M, but no further based on the information given. I checked to see if they're assuming that everyone bought one of each, but that doesn't work out to an even number.

Truth Behind Rare Coin Collecting

Nowadays, coin collecting, especially of those coins that are considered rare, is considered to be one of a few hobbies that are not just a mere pastime or leisure activity. Coin collecting can serve many purposes considered typical of this activity.

Coins have long been known as works of art because of the way the manufacturers carefully engrave the designs on the surface. Coins of a particular nation often portray the history of that nation with the engraving of the design on the coin.

The rare coin collection market in the United States has boosted their sales in recent years from 348% to 1, 195%. According to the U.S. Rare Coin Market, the average price of $1,000 spent by an individual during the 1970s would be valued at almost $57,977 today.

What is the secret behind these rare coins that their value continues to increase with age?

Rare coins were able to maintain even when the economy is unstable. They have been able to stabilize the wealth of the nation by serving as “inflation fighters.”

Experts contend that through these rare coins, the economic wealth of a nation is sheltered from possible harm by functioning as an investment much like “gold bullion”. This is applicable during the times when the value of the paper money continues to depreciate.

Rare coin collecting is not just like any other hobby. The concept of collecting such treasures is considered exceptional by itself and the monetary value can equal its distinctive character.

The rarity of these coins is not constrained by being merely collector’s items but they can also be considered a work of are and just like any work of art, may be priceless.
